Health and happiness for your pet begins with regular examinations. Your pet should be examined annually to semi-annually, depending on your pet’s condition and life-stage. Disease is easier and often less costly to manage when it is caught early.
Good preventive medicine includes protecting your pet against the contagious diseases for which they are at risk. Some of these diseases will rob your pet of quality of life while others are deadly. We don’t set up a "Cookie-Cutter" protocol for all patients, but rather we tailor an immunization protocol specifically for your pet based on his/ her age and lifestyle.
Parasites are nothing to take lightly because not only will they make your pet unhealthy, most of the parasites that bother your pet can also bother you, sometimes in ways that you may not want to know about! We are able to care for your pet in this area from diagnosing a parasitic disease, to treating your pet (and your home) for parasites, to preventing parasite-related disease in the first place. Your pet should have a fecal examination performed on an annual basis at a minimum.
Just like with humans, health issues seem to come up faster and sometimes more seriously the older our pets become. Senior pets require unique care and a broad, comprehensive watch. We have a specific program for our senior patients called a “Silver Screen” which consists of a complete physical examination and a thorough bundle of diagnostic tests. They are bundled so that we may be complete, and so that you can save a bit on cost. (Each test is discounted 12% when a “Silver Screen” is performed.) Taking this broad look at a senior patient allows us to establish a good baseline and to catch a potentially brewing problem before it becomes a big, clinical problem.
For your convenience, we have a complete pharmacy so that you can get the medications your pet needs before leaving the clinic. We also provide shampoos, home flea treatments, and vitamins.
Whether your pet is a Short Hair kitten or a senior Shar-Pei, an early-middle-aged Labrador or a late-middle-aged Maine Coon, a complete and balanced diet is important. Maintaining a healthy body condition is also very important. How can this be done? The doctors have great experience with helping dogs and cats at all stages of life eat in a healthy way. Especially with the dogs and cats that struggle with keeping their figure, the doctors can provide the help they need to arrive at a healthy body condition and lifestyle. We also provide Royal Canin Veterinary Diets for our patients' particular needs.
